North District SBU will be holding the 2023 Norvite competition on Friday 20th of January 2023 at 7.00pm. Cost is $5.00 BBO. It is open to all SBU members who wish to take part.

Ranked pairs are not being held in clubs this year, but on BBO. I do hope you can make it along to play.

Diamond Trophy for over 63s on Sunday 16th October at 11.00 a.m on BBO

Dear Member of North District Please find the details for the Diamond Trophy.

About this tournament
Senior National pairs – you must have been 63 on the 1st January 2022 to be eligible to play. This year’s tournament will be played as a single event on BBO.
11.00 am start. Two sessions of 24 boards will be played with a 60 min break in between. Tournament Director Matthew Robb.

10 National points for the winners with bonus points to the top half of the field will be available. Awards for the leading Silver and Bronze pairs will be available, subject to numbers participating.

BBO$15 per person.

Pre-registration is via the SBU website so that we have an indication of numbers for planning purposes but entry on the day is open to all eligible SBU members by registering on BBO from 9am.

Whiz Bridge for 9-13s Free Online Lessons

SBU sent an email with attachment to let you know about this really excellent initiative which began in the USA but has now been adapted for use in the UK.  The English Bridge Union has exteneded an invitation for youngsters to  learn the game.  They use online technology called Shark Bridge where youngsters can play in a virtual environment.  If you know anyone whose youngsters  may be interested can you please pass this email on to them.
